The Power of Facebook
Back in March I was scrolling through Facebook posts one evening when, in one of the groups was a request for help. Somebody had shared a post from a charity called Gift of a Wedding looking for wedding suppliers in Gloucestershire to donate their services for a wedding they had become involved in.
Gift of a Wedding is a charity based in Manchester that arranges weddings for terminally ill people with wedding professionals gifting services to ensure the day is the wedding day that the couple dream of.
I private messaged the charity to offer my venue decorating services, within moments of seeing the post, not knowing any of the details regarding the wedding, I had no idea of the scale of the task I was taking on but felt that everybody deserves the wedding that they dream of and really felt a need to help.
Patricia messaged me back immediately and asked for my website, company name and insurance documents, Speedy Gonzales was on the case and all info was whizzed over so 40 minutes later, a bit of scanning and Red Party Solutions was on board!
Gift of a wedding sent some outline details of the wedding with, I guessed by the amount of help offered Sarah would be overwhelmed so sent her an initial message to introduce myself and what my role in the wedding would be. Sarah & Tim had discussed their ideas so when I spoke to Sarah she could convey their shared vision to me.
Having viewed Sarah’s Pinterest board the feeling of the wedding was bohemian, folksy with natural shades with hints of gold, silver ivory & white. An outdoor ceremony followed by an intimate meal for the two of them with fairy lights & candles also playing a large part in the decor.
I also chatted to Planned for Perfection who was the wedding planner and Sassyfleur the florist to ensure the overall vision came together and was perfect for Sarah & Tim.
So the day arrived, I had made my way to Hare & Hounds hotel in Tetbury to begin the transformation. The Breeze room was the first area to be tackled and thousands of fairy lights later with a hint of swagging and LOVE letters from Generation Events, the delightful outdoor timbered area was ready for the Celebrant to perform the ceremony.
Next was the Gamekeepers Cottage, this is where Sarah & Tim would spend the remainder of the day, first enjoying a luxurious meal followed by a dip in the hot tub and then a relaxing romantic evening. Again Fairy lights, lanterns & candles with a splash of colour dotted around the cottage were all that the naturally decorated cottage required. I was lucky enough to finish just in time to see Sarah emerge ready to marry her one true love. She was beaming and looked absolutely stunning. The perfect bride!
Happily ever after…
From one post on Facebook the post from Gift of a Wedding was shared numerous times and was commented on over 1200 times, the generosity of people is overwhelming in todays modern society. Every wedding that I am honoured to be part of is very special but this one made me extremely proud. An amazing charity organising amazing days for special people, please donate your time or services if you can.
