When life gives you lemons……

One of our favourite weddings from 2016 was Jess & Gary’s at the beginning of August.

In the beginning…

From the time where Gary proposed to Jess live on TV at a premiership rugby match it was clear nothing would be understated about this wedding. After a recommendation from a previous satisfied bride & groom, Gary and Jess came into the showroom for their initial consultation. Having a dedicated appointment ensured that our full attention was on their wedding which is key. It means we can fully focus on the detail discussed.

Details, details..

We started off by taking the details about the wedding already booked. They had chosen The Hare & Hounds in Tetbury on 5th August 2016, this was about 4 months away so we had plenty of time to prepare. They had a colour scheme of lemon so to begin the chair sash was chosen to match up the shade. White chair covers completed the chair décor and to complete the look both cake & top table sashes were chosen as well.

Next we moved onto the subject of the centrepieces, neither Jess or Gary had definite ideas about what they wanted so after having a look around the showroom decided that some of the décor available wasn’t to their taste. After narrowing it down to manzanita trees or martini vases we started to show how versatile the two centrepieces could be. Based on what the couple have told us about their wedding and using our knowledge and expertise of the venue helps us make suggestions to the bride and groom.

Very often these ideas will be bespoke as no two weddings will have the same combination of venue, theme & colour scheme. It soon became clear that one half of this particular couple had some very definite ideas about what he wanted! Jess was happy to let Gary take the lead although there was an occasional ‘Really??’ when he started to get carried away.

Wedding Décor

After a lot of deliberation 70cm martini glasses with a half ivory rose pomander on a mirror plate with clear ice crystals were chosen as the centrepieces. A smaller version was chosen for the children’s table (safety first!) and for each end of the top table. To finish the top table decoration a light up Mr & Mrs sign was chosen. Gary was very keen on having bay trees for both the outdoor ceremony and as an entrance to the wedding breakfast so to keep the theme these were adorned with ivory roses. When viewing the Hare & Hounds both Jess and Gary had seen it decorated with fairy lights & bunting and were keen to add this in to the room decoration which we both agreed would look stunning.

Finishing Touches

They both agreed they would like something to put their cards in and after viewing both the post box & wishing well the latter was chosen. To finish off the décor in the bar area a wishing tree was chosen with butterfly tags for guests to write on their good wishes for the bride and groom. A sweet table was a necessity according to Gary & Jess so a list of sweets was passed over, for them to peruse and make their selections from.

One last thing…

Everything was put in writing and agreed but it doesn’t end there. Gary got in touch a couple of weeks before the wedding and asked if we could decorate the wooden outdoor gazebo at the Hare & Hounds where they were getting married. Of course we could, we hope you agree it looked absolutely fantastic and we were proud to be part of their special day.
